PLOTO partners under the spotlight: RSOE

The National Association of Radio Distress-Signalling and Info communications (RSOE) is the last PLOTO partner to present that collaborates with the Freeport of Budapest Logistics Ltd (BSZL), the Hungarian State Railway Company (MÁV), and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Department of Transportation Technology and Economics (BME) in the Hungarian pilot site.

What prompted your organisation to join the PLOTO consortium?

RSOE is the provider of River Information Services (RIS) and Port Management Information System in Hungary, besides RSOE operates the Emergency and Disaster Information Service (EDIS) with the objective to monitor, document and analyze all kind of emergency or disaster events worldwide. Our services include the displaying of gathered information on various user interfaces and the notification of customers on selected events. RSOE’s activities can contribute to the project’s main goal at several points, which are the following:

  • smart, green, sustainable, climate-resilient and biodiversity-friendly infrastructure
  • to strengthen infrastructure reliability, improve its performance and increase the resilience of the whole transport system, creating a climate-resilient infrastructure system. For these reasons, RSOE accepted the invitation to the project and contributes to the achievement of the project’s goals.

How do the objectives of PLOTO project fit in with the priorities and strategies of your company?

Our project team successfully contributed to the realisation of project goals for more than 20 years and we have a wide range of experience regarding the topics that are necessary for the implementation of this project. In the PLOTO project, we can use our extensive knowledge, which we share with our partners, and we also acquire new knowledge about transport and information systems, and sustainable and climate-resilient infrastructure.

Tell us about the role of your company in this project.

We provide a link between the PLOTO platform and RIS and inland port information systems for effective and long-term results.

Can you give an update about the latest developments?

We have collected the digital elevation model (DEM) dataset due to conduct the highly detailed wind gust analysis for the project pilot sites.

What are your company’s next steps in the project, in relation to the pilot site?

RSOE will focus on the acquisition and installation of a weather station, which contributes to predictive weather modelling.

What are your plans to build upon these results for future initiatives?

To contribute to the project’s main goal: Deployment and Assessment of Predictive modelling, environmentally sustainable and emerging digital technologies and tools for improving the resilience of IWW against Climate change and other extremes.
