Connecting Europe Days

Connecting Europe Days is a mobility flagship event, set to take place from 2-5 April 2024 in Brussels, Belgium. This gathering will convene policymakers, financial bodies, industry figures, transport experts, and the European Commission to delve into the realm of inland waterways. This assembly aims to explore tangible actions and share successful models for crafting an all-encompassing, sustainable, technologically advanced, and carbon-neutral transport network across Europe. It will assess the ambitious objectives delineated in the EU Green Deal and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy.

Central to these discussions will be the recently revised trans-European transport network (TEN-T) Regulation, introducing nine fresh European Transport Corridors and a restructured governance overseen by eleven European TEN-T Coordinators. The focus will extend to the future of funding and financing mechanisms for infrastructure projects, alongside tackling concerns about the resilience of infrastructures in the face of climate change. The forum will address critical challenges to transport connectivity, such as Russia’s ongoing actions against Ukraine, which have periodically jeopardized the EU Single Market’s smooth operation. Sessions during the conference will scrutinize the EU transport network’s role in establishing links with neighbouring countries and fortifying its ability to withstand external threats, ensuring preparedness and resilience.
