As the PLOTO Project approaches its conclusion, the consortium invites stakeholders to attend its Final Online Event on 20 March 2026, taking place from 11:00 to 13:15 CET. The event will mark the culmination of several years of collaborative research and innovation and will provide an opportunity to explore the project’s key achievements — including the presentation and live demonstration of the PLOTO digital platform.
Funded under the Horizon Europe programme, PLOTO has focused on developing innovative, data-driven solutions to improve the resilience, safety, and operational efficiency of inland waterways infrastructure. Throughout the project, partners have combined predictive modelling, advanced analytics, climate impact assessment, and decision-support tools to strengthen the ability of waterway authorities and operators to anticipate and respond to climate-related and other extreme events.
Driving Innovation for Inland Waterway Resilience
Over the course of the project, PLOTO has worked to integrate environmental modelling, risk assessment methodologies, and digital technologies into a comprehensive framework supporting inland waterway management. Close collaboration with pilot sites and end users has ensured that the tools developed respond to real operational needs and deliver practical value.
A key outcome of this work is the PLOTO Platform — an integrated digital environment that brings together predictive models, decision-support functionalities, and practical applications in a single user-oriented system. The platform is designed to support both strategic planning and day-to-day operational decision-making under challenging conditions.
What to Expect at the Final Event
Participants in the Final Event will gain an in-depth overview of the project’s concept, methodology, and results. The programme will feature a keynote speech, a live demonstration of the PLOTO Platform, and presentations highlighting its key features, user workflows, and real-world applications. Use-case discussions will provide insights into user experiences, operational benefits, and lessons learned during implementation.
The event will conclude with an interactive Q&A session, offering participants the opportunity to engage with project partners and discuss how digital innovation can continue to support the resilience of Europe’s inland waterways.
