ER 7 – Middleware and Data Fusion Services

In the PLOTO project, RISA Sicherheitanalysen GmbH is responsible (among others) for developing the project’s Middleware and Data Fusion (DF) services.  PLOTO’s middleware is a software that enables one or more kinds of communication or connectivity between applications or components in a distributed network, by using common messaging frameworks such as JSON, REST, XML etc. It will include services that will help developers configure and control connections and integrations. It will also support the efficient integration and information management from heterogeneous data sources and information mapping (uniform information formatting along with similar contextual information). In doing this, an event filtering and contextual information management module will be developed along with an ontologies and semantic representation layer that will also establish rules and reasoning on sensor data that will permit the early detection of anomalies and/or alerts that cannot be detected by the individual systems and analysis. Least but not last, a middleware specific security and privacy module will be developed in order to build all the identity management and access control for accessing and using middleware, secure communication protocols securing the information exchange between all the external information systems and finally to guarantee privacy of information that should kept and/or inherit from the different data sources.
